Position Purpose:
The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the 24-hour glass finishing operations through solid engineering principles, process optimization, and continuous improvement. They will also ensure process stability and support daily operations, with a focus on achieving customer satisfaction targets.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Training and Project State:
- Undergo on-the-job training in India/ APAC region for glass finishing process/ technology.
- Assist in the installation, startup, troubleshooting, and operation of manufacturing equipments.
- Monitor process trend charts to ensure he process is under control.
- Check and confirm daily operation checklist to ensure all operation compliance.
- Establish manufacturing processes.
In steady state
- Support or lead sub-teams on new equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.
- Train operators and supervisors on new equipment and processes.
- Troubleshoot material, process, and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Implement and document material, process, and/or equipment changes.
- Work with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineering-related problems.
- Support or lead small project teams focusing on continuous improvement activities, new product/process introductions, and cost reduction projects.
- Support any plant-level project such as start-up, equipment upgrade, new technology, process improvement, etc.
- Execute cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives.
- Create and support developments in equipment design and new process that can enhance the current process capabilities.
- Deliver on plant manufacturing objectives ship to request, manufacturing cost, quality and safety.
- Understand manufacturing cost.
- Define, manage, and support continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes.
- Lead or support Corrective Action Initiatives” related to quality, safety or unscheduled equipment downtime.
- Insure an efficient and seamless ransfer of new products and manufacturing technologies from engineering to manufacturing.
Reporting Structure:
Immediate Supervisor: Engineering Manager/Lead or Production Head
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 5-10 years of engineering experience preferably in glass manufacturing environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong data analysis skills and an analytical mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and/or as a team leader.
- Technical aptitude conducive to building proficiency in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and evaluating manufacturing data.
- Experience with MS-office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Access.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience.
