Job Summary:

Presidency School, Mangalore, is looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Educator to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, parents, and counselors to develop and implement individualized learning plans (IEPs) that ensure inclusive and effective education for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Individualized Support & Teaching:

• Identify students with learning difficulties and special needs through assessments and teacher referrals.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each students needs.
• Use specialized teaching strategies and assistive technologies to support students’ learning.

2. Classroom & Behavioral Support:

• Work closely with subject teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching methods for students with special needs.
• Assist in managing classroom behavior and ensuring a supportive learning environment.
• Implement behavior management strategies and interventions.

3. Parent & Teacher Collaboration:

• Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on student progress and strategies for support at home.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers to enhance inclusive education practices.

4. Assessment & Progress Tracking:

• Conduct assessments to monitor students’ academic and social progress.
• Maintain detailed records of interventions, accommodations, and student development.
• Modify learning plans based on regular progress evaluations.

5. Inclusive Education & Awareness:

• Advocate for inclusive education policies within the school.
• Organize awareness programs to promote understanding and acceptance of diverse learning needs.
• Ensure compliance with national and state guidelines for special education.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (B.Ed/M.Ed in Special Education) or a relevant certification in Learning Disabilities, Autism, or other special needs areas.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience working as a Special Educator in a school setting.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and behavior management techniques.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and special education tools.
• Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and counselors effectively.
