Role Overview : The Employee Relations Lead is responsible for managing employee grievances, disciplinary cases, and performance improvement cases at the designated site. This role ensures that all employee relations activities are handled in a fair, consistent, and legally compliant manner. The Employee Relations Lead will work closely with management and employees to foster a positive work environment and address issues promptly and effectively. Thie role will also be accountable for conceptualizing and leading multiple initiatives keeping in mind the changing needs of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Grievance Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances.
- Conduct thorough investigations into grievances in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve grievances.
- Maintain detailed records of all grievance cases and outcomes.
2. Disciplinary Case Management:
- Manage the disciplinary process, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Conduct investigations into disciplinary issues, including interviews with involved parties.
- Provide recommendations for disciplinary actions and ensure consistent application across the site.
- Document all disciplinary cases and maintain confidentiality.
3. Performance Improvement:
- Work with managers to identify employees who require performance improvement plans (PIPs).
- Develop and implement PIPs in collaboration with managers and employees.
- Monitor progress and provide ongoing support to employees on PIPs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of PIPs and make necessary adjustments.
4. Policy and Procedure Compliance:
- Ensure all employee relations activities comply with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Stay updated on relevant labor laws and regulations.
- Provide training to managers and employees on employee relations policies and best practices.
5. Skip Connect / Focus Group Discussions:
- Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Conduct regular meetings with employees to address concerns and gather feedback.
- Promote open door policy and ensure confidentiality with respect to the feedback shared.
6. Reporting and Analytics:
- Prepare regular reports on employee relations activities and trends.
- Analyze data to identify patterns and areas for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
7. Team management:
- Manage a team of 7 employees in Employee Relations across 3 locations.
8. Communication / Articulation:
- Preparation of email/letter drafts
- Participation in Leadership reviews/preparation of dashboards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in employee relations or a similar role.
- 6-7 years of experience in team management.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS (Workday or similar tools) and other relevant software.
Additional Information:
- This role may require occasional travel to other sites.
- The Employee Relations Lead must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
