Summary of the position
The role will be hands on work to develop, unit test and maintain the Java based web applications.

Key accountabilities

• Development and Unit Testing
• Ability to execute assigned tasks without assistance
• Ability to understand tasks or issues and implement resolutions.
• Ability to identify own areas for development and work towards them.
• Ability to engage with team for allocated task
• Understand company standards / processes and follow them.

• Takes accountability for modules/sub-projects/sub teams, ensuring workload is delivered to quality, control, cost and schedule.
• Ensures development tasks are delivered to agreed ISO standards
• Provides status reporting of sub team activities against plan/schedule to team lead/managers
• Deputises for team lead on client/project work.
• Escalates issues to team lead which cannot be resolved by the team
• Help team lead resolve conflicts
• Ability to create estimates and perform validation and feasibility checks through R&D
• Pragmatic approach to resolve practical situations

Skills and Experience | Essential

• Core Java 6 and above
• Web Services (Rest or SOAP)
• Hibernate and Spring 3
• JDBC and Database Concepts (Storage, Index, Joins)
• Code Repository (Git and JQuery, XMLg Tool (Ant or Maven)
• Servlet/JSP/JSTL
• HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, XML
• Good Verbal & written communication

Skills and Experience | Desirable

• Coding Practices & Refactoring
• Unit Testing Tool Junit
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration tool (Jenkins)
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (Preferably Agile)
