The Candidate will be responsible for managing the social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. This role involves creating and curating content, engaging with the audience, monitoring social media trends, and providing insights to improve our social media strategies. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of the news industry and a knack for creating engaging, news-worthy content.
Responsibilities
Develop, curate, and schedule content across all social media platforms to promote news stories, features, and special reports.
Collaborate with journalists and editors to source and create compelling social media content that adheres to journalistic standards.
Utilize multimedia content (images, videos, infographics) to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
Monitor and engage with the audience on social media platforms, responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
Foster relationships with followers, influencers, and other stakeholders to expand our social media reach.
Assist in developing and executing social media strategies to align with the organizations goals.
Track and analyze social media metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or similar.
Provide regular reports on social media performance and audience insights to inform editorial and marketing strategies.
Stay updated with the latest social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms. Identify and leverage trending topics and hashtags to increase the visibility and reach of our content. Participate in editorial meetings and contribute ideas for social media content and campaigns.
Requirements
Excellent knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Strong understanding of SEO, web traffic metrics, and social media analytics tools.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box.
Nice to Have
2 years of experience as a Social Media Specialist, or similar role, preferably in a news organization.
Education
bachelors degree in digital marketing, or a related field
