Sr. Tech Writer, Dev Experience

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Technical Writer, Developer Experience to join our team and build world-class technical documentation for APIs, developer tools, and SDKs.

This role requires deep expertise in technical writing, API documentation, and developer-focused content creation. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and writing skills, a solid understanding of developer technologies, and experience using AI-driven tools to enhance documentation processes.

Meet our team:
The newly established Global Solutions Engineering organization will deliver products for Global Markets, including key strategic initiatives such as Digital Wallets, that will allow expansion of PayPal s footprint through intuitive experiences. This team will be responsible for building out platforms that will accelerate time to value across all PayPal markets.

• Develop clear, concise, and well-structured content that enhances the developer experience. Create and maintain API references, SDK documentation, developer guides, and integration tutorials.
• Work closely with engineers to understand APIs, endpoints, request/response structures, authentication, and error handling. Ensure that API documentation is developer-friendly, up to date, and aligned with industry standards.

• Maintain and improve the documentation platform using tools like Markdown, Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, and Git-based documentation workflows.
• Ensure content is accessible, version-controlled, and optimized for searchability.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to automate and enhance documentation generation processes. Implement strategies to improve the efficiency and scalability of technical writing using modern AI technologies.

• Partner with engineering, product, and developer relations teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
• Gather feedback from developers and iterate on documentation to improve clarity and usability.

• 7+ years of product and platform technical Writing experience.
• Strong ability to create, edit, and manage documentation for APIs, SDKs, and developer tools. Experience with API documentation formats such as OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Proficiency in Markdown, Git, and documentation management tools like ReadMe.io, Confluence, or similar platforms. Hands-on experience with API tools such as Postman, cURL, and RESTful API testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI-based documentation generation tools and automation techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience collaborating with engineering, product, and developer relations teams to improve documentation.
• Familiarity with payment processing, financial APIs, or fintech-related developer tools is a plus. Understanding of global payment methods, wallets, and transaction flows.
• A Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is helpful in this role.
• Fluency in English and strong communication skills required.
