Senior Software Engineer - Ruby

We're looking for a dynamic, people oriented, highly analytical person to join our development team in Patterns Pune office. This role will work in a team of 4-6 engineers to develop and maintain Pattern’s eCommerce applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with development teams to ideate software solutions
• Design and implementation of the overall web architecture
• Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications
• Work with US stakeholders to gather requirements and collaborate on various projects.
• Active participation in agile ceremonies like scrums, refinement, sprint planning and sprint retrospective, etc.
• Design and implementation of continuous integration and deployment
• Problem solving with alternative approaches and in consultation with stakeholders Working as part of a team, encourage innovation & best practices
• Participate in hiring initiatives to bring best talent to Pattern
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews and updating documentation

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of proven work experience in Ruby, RoR development
• Deep expertise in object-oriented development, including strong design patterns knowledge
• Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)
• Familiarity with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design
• Thorough understanding of user experience and possibly even product strategy
• Experience implementing testing platforms and unit tests
• Understanding of Messaging concepts and technologies like Active MQ/RabbitMQ etc.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts
• Appreciation for clean and well documented code
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Precise attention to details
• Strong judgment and commitment to ethics

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Amazon.com, Walmart.com, or other ecommerce marketplaces
• Expert in more than one programming language
• Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
• Good knowledge and handson experience with AWS Services
• Strong writing and editing skills
