Jr. Infection Control Nurse (ICN)

• The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing and managing infection prevention and control programs in healthcare settings. This role involves conducting surveillance, education, and training, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to prevent and control infections. The Infection Control Nurse will work collaboratively with healthcare staff, patients, and external agencies to maintain a safe and healthy environment

Surveillance and Reporting:

• Conduct ongoing surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
  
• Analyze infection data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
  
• Report infection data to relevant authorities and maintain accurate records.
  

Policy and Procedure Development:

• Develop and update infection control policies and procedures.
  
• Ensure policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
  
• Review and revise policies based on new research and evidence-based practices.
  

Education and Training:

• Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection prevention and control practices.
  
• Develop educational materials and conduct workshops, seminars, and in-service training.
  
• Educate patients and visitors on infection control practices.
  

Compliance and Auditing:

• Monitor compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
  
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of healthcare facilities.
  
• Implement corrective actions and follow up on deficiencies.
  

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with healthcare teams to identify and address infection risks.
  
• Participate in infection control committees and other relevant meetings.
  
• Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and external agencies.
  

Outbreak Management:

• Investigate and manage infection outbreaks.
  
• Develop and implement outbreak control plans.
  
• Coordinate with public health authorities during outbreaks.
  

Research and Quality Improvement:

• Participate in infection control research projects.
  
• Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance infection control practices.
  
• Stay current with new research and developments in infection prevention.
  
  Requirements

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelordegree in Nursing (BSN) required; Masterdegree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field preferred.
  
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [insert state].
  
• Certification: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or required within a specified time frame after hire.
  
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in infection control or related field.
