Certified DB2 Database Administrator (Immediate Joiner)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DB2 Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing DB2 databases in enterprise environments. This role requires expertise in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring database security and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Database Administration
• Install, configure, and maintain DB2 database systems on Linux, Unix, and Windows (LUW) or mainframe platforms.
• Perform upgrades, patches, and migrations to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
• Implement and manage high-availability solutions (e.g., HADR, replication).
2. Performance Tuning and Optimization
• Monitor database performance and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
• Optimize SQL queries and database objects for efficiency.
• Conduct regular health checks and capacity planning.
3. Backup and Recovery
• Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Ensure data integrity and availability through proper recovery procedures.
4. Database Security and Compliance
• Enforce security policies to protect sensitive data.
• Monitor and address vulnerabilities, adhering to industry compliance standards.
• Conduct regular audits and implement access controls.
5. Collaboration and Support
• Work closely with application developers to design and implement database solutions.
• Provide 24/7 support for critical database issues and resolve incidents promptly.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7-11 years of hands-on experience as a DB2 Database Administrator.
• Proficiency in DB2 for LUW or z/OS environments.
• Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and indexing strategies.
• Expertise in performance tuning and troubleshooting DB2 databases.
• Experience with backup and recovery tools (e.g., TSM, NetBackup).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python) for automation.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like IBM Data Server Manager, Nagios, or similar.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as IBM Certified Database Administrator DB2.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in a database context.
• Knowledge of additional database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).

Exposure to cloud platforms and database migration to the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
