Product Development Merchandiser

Company Overview:

We are an emerging company specializing in Wood, Metal, and Stone Handicrafts and Furniture, poised for growth in the global market. We are a small but growing team of 9 people, and we are looking for an experienced product development and merchandising professional to join our team in Jodhpur.

Position Overview:

The Product Development and Merchandising Coordinator will be pivotal in managing our merchandising operations. This role requires a blend of industry expertise and adaptability to navigate the evolving landscape of a growing company. This role includes product development, sampling, costing, and helping production teams develop production plans for new products. The PD and Merchandising Coordinator will report directly to the Operations Manager and work closely with the founder and Sales Director of the company as well.

Key Responsibilities:

• Product Development and Sourcing:
• Collaborate with Sales and Design and Production teams
• Work with designers and sales staff to turn designs and ideas into tech sheets and Bills-of-Materials.
• Source external components, including packaging, inserts, wooden items, stone, metal and other needed product pieces, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop costing sheets for new products.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Manage and coordinate with designers to develop new designs in collaboration with customers and the sales team.

• Order Management and Coordination:
• Oversee external (out-of-house) contracts and material orders from initial inquiry to final shipment, ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction.
• Communicate frequently and with clarity with outside vendors, internal production staff, and sales and ops teams.
• Maintain an organized and frequently updated record of development projects, external orders, and ongoing production work.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in product development and/or merchandising within the Handicraft and/or Furniture sector.
• 5-10 years of product development or merchandising experience.
• Strong English language skills.
• Proven ability to adapt and thrive in a startup or rapidly growing company environment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a track record of building and maintaining client and vendor relationships.
