Senior Plant Pathologist

Role & responsibilities

• Developing quality data on phenotypic evaluation and analysis of biotic traits
• Establishing efficient pathological assays for various Field crops and Vegetable diseases and deploy them for routine disease testing
• Support Field and Vegetable breeding programs in developing and implementing research goals through coordination and alignment of team, resources and program direction
• Provide the highest quality disease and pest resistance phenotypic data to support integrated breeding teams toward industry leading resistance traits
• Coordinate pathology activities regionally
• Engage and collaborate with breeding, product development and sales regarding crop specific disease resistance traits
• Responsible for prioritization and execution of deliverables of research projects according to planned timelines
• Lead, coach, and guide a team of phytopathology specialists and technicians in fulfilling research objectives of the program
• Writing and maintaining technical documents such as disease protocols, diagnostic methods, or best practices
• Be creative and innovative in developing new ideas and solutions by exploring latest scientific knowledge and technologies in plant pathology or related disciplines
• Improving the efficiency of phenotyping protocols using Six Sigma or other process improvement methods
• Provide excellent diagnostics services to internal clients and external customers in a timely and cost effective method
• Must have a demonstrated industrial experience of over 5 to 10 years
  

Preferred candidate profile

• Ph.D in Plant Pathology 5 Years experience and M.Sc with 10 Years experience.
• High on integrity and business ethics
• Must be a good communicator & collaborator
• Excellent on planning and executing the plans
• Ability to take critical decisions
• Good leadership skills
• Knowledge of latest tools and technologies in plant pathology.
