Structural Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Performs general engineering and structural analysis as required for projects.
• Reviewing all applicable job data, including purchase orders, project plans and specifications, to determine requirements of the order and establish engineering objectives.
• Prepares layouts, detailed drawings, calculations, specifications and instructions necessary for project success.
• Familiarity with Concrete Code as well as Structural Steel Code. Familiarity with IBC for load generation, necessary Welding codes, etc.
• Familiarity with design and sizing for anchor bolts
• Ability to read and understand complex engineering specifications
• Ability to read and understand fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and assembly techniques pertaining to structural steel
• Basic knowledge of project management experience
• Adheres to all company and corporate policies; Advises project engineers, project managers and/ or other managers on project status.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

B.E. degree in Mechanical/Civil engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel design or in water or wastewater equipment design.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to understand English, at advanced level, via written and verbal communication.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT, DECISION MAKING & PROBLEM SOLVING:

Ability to make decisions regarding the sizing of structural steel members and sizing of anchor bolts.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Computer Skills: Proficiency in STAAD.Pro or similar, MathCAD, AutoCAD, 3D modeling software; Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.
