python Backend developer

Key Responsibilities:

• Building and testing scalable, reusable and maintainable applications that handle large amounts of data
• Growing our API layer: author, update, and debug API microservices 
• Learn and use new design patterns and best practices under the guidance of senior developers
• Ability to learn new technologies

Required Skills

• Solid working knowledge of Python including inheritance, decorators, context blocks, scoping, comprehensions, making web requests, and testing
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and at least one Python API framework
• Experience with Linux/Unix Systems and bash
• Understanding of concepts such as microservices, containerization, serverless computing, and scalability (horizontal and vertical)
• Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Passion for learning new skills and technologies
• Familiarity with working with data and databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, Redis, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)
• An understanding of testing (unit testing, functional testing, integration testing)
• Understanding of API security concerns and preventative measures
• Ability to profile, identify, debug, and fix issues with application and database layers with modern tooling
• Knowledge of git, with understanding of branching, how to manage conflicts, and pull requests

Additional Skills

• Experience with Javascript or other languages (Go, C/C++,) is welcome, but not required. This position requires backend development skills, but if you are familiar with contemporary web-application design (Web-components, react,Js) its great. 
• Knowledge of AWS or other cloud environments (GCP/Azure) a plus. 
• Passion for data-driven software. All our tools are built on top of data and require work with data.
