Job Description
- Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization, indexing, and server configurations.
- Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard SQL Server databases.
- Monitor database health and perform regular maintenance tasks such as index rebuilding and statistics updates.
- Assist with database migration and upgrade projects.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure optimal database design and performance.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Maintain database documentation and best practices.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, SQL scripts, or other scripting languages.
- Provide support for high-availability and disaster recovery environments (e.g., Always On, SQL Clustering).
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3-6 years of experience as an SQL Database Administrator (DBA).
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server versions (2012 and above).
- Proficient in SQL Server backup, restore, replication, and clustering.
- Solid understanding of database design, normalization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
- Knowledge of database security best practices and user management.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting languages for automation.
- Familiarity with high-availability configurations such as Always On Availability Groups and SQL Server Clustering.
- Experience with monitoring tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Profiler, and third-party monitoring tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud-based databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
- Familiarity with database automation tools like Ansible or Puppet.
- Knowledge of other database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
