Product Manager - Localization

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and implement a robust localization strategy to adapt products for diverse international markets, balancing global consistency and regional relevance.
• Collaborate with regional teams to understand market-specific user needs, cultural nuances, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure translations are accurate, consistent, and culturally appropriate by managing relationships with translation vendors and linguists.
• Oversee localization efforts to meet regional legal and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, accessibility guidelines, data residency requirements).
• Leverage localization tools and platforms such as TMS (e.g., Smartling, Lokalise, Phrase) and CAT tools to optimize workflows and ensure efficiency.
• Work with design, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of localized content into product pipelines.
• Partner with engineering teams to implement internationalization (i18n) practices, enabling flexible support for multiple languages, formats, and cultural settings.
• Continuously refine and enhance localization workflows, implementing automation tools where possible to reduce lead times and improve quality.
• Collect and incorporate feedback from local markets and users to iteratively improve localized product experiences.
• Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for localized products, such as adoption, user engagement, and satisfaction.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 4-10 years in product management, with at least 3+ years focused on localizing global digital products.
• Hands-on experience with localization tools such as TMS (Smartling, Lokalise, Phrase, or similar), CAT tools, and CMS platforms.
• Proven track record in launching and managing localized versions of digital products across multiple regions.
• Strong understanding of regional compliance requirements, such as GDPR, CCPA, and accessibility standards.
• Experience tailoring products to meet cultural and linguistic expectations in diverse markets.
• Ability to analyze user data and feedback to inform localization decisions and improve outcomes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across global and regional teams.
• Familiarity with internationalization (i18n) concepts and practices in software development.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in multilingual UX/UI design and quality assurance for localized products.
• Knowledge of automation tools for managing translation workflows.
• Certifications in localization management or product management are a plus.
• Familiarity with analytics tools for tracking localized product performance.
