Medical Record Officer/In-Charge MRD

Role & responsibilities

• Storing patient information: The MRD keeps a patient's medical history, treatments, and care in a paper or electronic format. These records are confidential and only authorized personnel can access them.
• Planning patient care: The MRD uses patient records to plan future care.
• Documenting communication: The MRD documents communication between the hospital and other health professionals involved in a patient's care.
• Protecting legal interests: The MRD helps protect the legal interests of the patient and the hospital.
• Providing records for research: The MRD provides records for research purposes.
• Forwarding birth and death reports: The MRD forwards birth and death reports to the District/Zone Sub-Registrar.
• Making records available for medico-legal purposes: The MRD makes records available for medico-legal purposes.
• Responding to inquiries: The MRD responds to inquiries from the Life Insurance Corporation.

The MRD is responsible for ensuring that patient records are accurate, complete, and available.
