Java Development Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Building: Lead and manage a high-performing engineering team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating talent. Create a positive, collaborative environment for the team to innovate and grow. Recruit, onboard, and mentor engineers for the team, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction for the design, development, and implementation of the FinTech application. Ensure the team adheres to best practices, architecture standards, and quality guidelines. Oversee the design of scalable, high-performance, and secure systems that will handle complex financial transactions and data processing.
• Application Development: Lead the design and implementation of new features, enhancements, and integrations for the application, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Work closely with stakeholders to prioritize technical solutions and deliver a product that meets customer needs.
• Collaboration & Cross-functional Leadership: Work closely with Product Managers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to drive the overall product vision and ensure smooth execution. Ensure smooth communication between engineering and non-technical teams, translating technical concepts into business language.
• Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, keeping the team up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and tools. Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve development processes, performance, and scalability.
• Compliance & Security: Ensure that the application meets all relevant regulatory requirements, including data protection and security standards specific to the FinTech space. Take a proactive approach to managing technical risks, ensuring the security and stability of the application.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a strong background in Java, preferably in the FinTech or financial services domain. 3+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and coaching team members.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and related technologies. Solid experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL), and experience with high-volume, low latency data processing and distributed systems. Experience in building and deploying secure applications in a regulated environment.
• FinTech Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities in the FinTech space, including payment systems, transaction processing, financial data security, and regulatory compliance.
• Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to hire, grow, and lead engineering teams.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment. Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results while maintaining high technical and engineering standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with financial services platforms or APIs, such as payment gateways, card processing, or lending solutions.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
