This role will require the individual to provide timely procurement services for the Fleet at the best price and delivery time.
Role Accountabilities (What is this role responsible for delivering?)
Business Partnering Internal and External Stakeholders Liaise with the Fleet and Ship Managers in the office and Masters and Chief Engineer s onboard ships for the procurement and supply of ships spares, stores, lubes, paints etc and all other goods and supplies requested.
Communicate with purchasers and suppliers for information and specifications and deal with problems in a timely manner Vendors Management Report on the performance or vendors as required by the companies SMS system and provide recommendation to improve the performance of vendors and the procurement process.
Verify supplier s invoices for accuracy and ensure payments are made by the agreed time period.
Source goods that result in the right value for the ships and company being mindful that goods need to have the required standards to maintain a high standard of safety and reliability and be mindful of the need for economy.
Call for and receive and evaluate quotations and tenders to select the best match and value that meet the standards required as laid down by the SMS manual and as directed by Fleet Managers and Fleet Director.
Track, monitor and follow-up on the purchasing requests until close out to ensure all ships PO s are properly closed out by ships.
Provide and maintain proper documentation and records to ensure that all purchases meet the company standards to support requests for payment by cash, cheque or electronic payments to suppliers for the purchase of goods. Training, learning and growth
Communicate with vessels, Fleet, Ship and Assistant Ship Managers and Fleet Director for clarifications on specification of goods, confirmation and approval as per the company procurement policy laid out in the SMS manual and as updated form time to time.
Train and educate vessels on purchasing procedures and requirements to ensure a smooth flow of procurement process and full compliance with the company procurement policy. Procurement Process
Report on non-conformance and provide data for evaluation to improve the performance of the procurement processes.
Promptly inform the Fleet Director of real of suspected non-conformances in the procurement process occurring in the office of the fleet.

Key Qualifications & Skills (What knowledge will ensure success in the role?)
Qualifications At least 3-5 years Marine industries purchasing experience, preferably with a Ship Management company O Level / Diploma with at least 3-5 years experience in Marine Equipment Purchasing preferred
