Job Description

Responsible for all academic activities related to learning and teaching in his/her respective class.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  1. Curriculum Development
  2. Knowledge Delivery
  3. Student Performance
  4. Assessments & Learning Analytics


Curriculum Development

  • Preparation- To prepare the Year Plans, Topic Summary, Session Plans and ensure that they are aligned to the curriculum of the respective segment.
  • Make use of the reference books and other educational materials such as teaching aids, storybooks for all subjects to ensure quality.
  • Document learning from each topic based on student response. Accordingly discuss with the coordinator and plan to modify/enhance the existing session plans.
  • Plan qualitative activities and inquiry based projects for the respective grade .
  • Suggest and place a request for field trips and guest lectures based on the curriculum well in advance. To identify the learning outcomes of the field trips and map it with the learning.


Knowledge Delivery

  • Planning - Plan for activity based transaction and prepare qualitative teaching aids.
  • Teaching - To plan for a good engaging class that caters individual, pair and group activities.
  • Classroom Transactions - To ensure quality, to observe any one session of another teacher atleast one per day to get more inputs towards preparation for a class. To plan and modify the class as per feedback given by the observer.
  • Learning Spaces Maintain good classroom ambience and make sure the bulletin boards speak of the ongoing academic program.
  • Remedial Learning and Supportive Instruction Identify the list of students that are facing challenges in learning and plan for remedial program along with the Academic Head.
  • Department Meetings: Attend weekly meetings with the respective department to discuss curriculum delivery, address challenges with respect to student learning, lesson plan, homework, etc.
  • Student Handbook/Daily Diary: To ensure sending of daily diary regularly.
  • HW – To send homework as per schedule, check the work for completion and correction and discuss with the coordinator in case of concerns.
  • Student Notebooks:Maintain promptness in the correction of student notebooks and to adhere to the correction code.


Teacher Performance: Training:

  • Plan class as per feedback after the classroom observation and work on improving teaching skills and ensure progress.
  • Teacher Training: To practice/incorporate learnings of each training session.
  • Attend training program of the segment (atleast 2 per term).





Student Performance

  • Student Attendance: Monitor student attendance and coordinate with coordinator to follow up with parents of students that are absent for longer than 3 days. Ensure Student Attendance is updated in the ERP Software by break each day.
  • Student Behaviour: Interact with coordinator once a week to discuss student behaviour for a remedy. Counsel the students where indiscipline is found.
  • Note Books – maintain regular corrections to ensure quality and regularity.
  • Student Fitness: Interact with students to track students’ eating habits and update coordinator in cases of concern.
  • Student Academic Progress: Monitor Student Academic Progress (by checking CW, HW, Diaries, Reports) and present the result to the segment coordinator after each assessment. Accordingly, identify the students with concern for regular meetings with parents.
  • Student Case study files: Track the students’ progress in all aspects.


Assessments

  • Question Papers: To follow guidelines for preparing question papers for each test. Maintain quality in the content of Question Papers and quality of regular assessments like the slip tests
  • Corrections: Follow Correction code and discuss corrected answer sheets to ensure consistency in the quality of corrections.
  • Reports & Marks Entry: Ensure that data is entered as per timelines.
  • Performance Review with Parents : To give clear and constructive feedback to the parents and plan for remedial action with parents wherever required
  • Learning Analytics: Use data from MCB to analyse student levels across different subjectss and present to coordinator. Identify action plan for each set of results.


Qualifications:

  1. Educational Background
    • Bachelor’s Degree In Education and BA in English.
    • Master’s Degree: Preferred

Experience:

  1. Classroom Teaching Experience
    • Previous experience teaching the language in a school setting, typically 1-3 years.

  1. Curriculum Development
    • Experience in designing and adapting curriculum to meet language learning goals.

  1. Student Assessment
    • Proficiency in assessing language proficiency through various methods (oral exams, written tests, projects).
    • Experience in providing constructive feedback to help students improve their language skills.

  1. Classroom Management
    • Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
    • Skills in engaging students and maintaining their interest in language learning.

  1. Technology Integration
    • Experience using language learning technology and digital tools (language labs, online resources, language learning apps).
    • Ability to incorporate multimedia resources into lessons to enhance learning.

  1. Professional Development
    • Commitment to ongoing professional growth in language teaching methodologies.
    • Participation in workshops, conferences, and continuing education courses related to language education.
