POSITION TITLE : Senior Librarian

DEPARTMENT : Administration

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain records of items received, stored, issued, and returned.
• To inform the management to purchase as per the requirement of the doctors.
• To verify the books in terms of any misprints, missing pages or damages if any on receipt of the books.
• To affix the Hospital Seal in the first and last page of the books.
• Perform clerical activities such as filing, typing, photocopying.
• Classify items according to content and purpose such as pediatric/Surgery/Gyneacology/Medicine and etc.,
• Search standard reference materials, including on-line sources and the Internet, in order to answer users reference questions.
• Analyze users' requests to determine needed information, and assist in furnishing or locating that information.
• Sort books, publications, and other items according to established procedure and return them to shelves, files, or other designated storage areas
• Check books in and out of the library.
• Code, classify, and catalog books, and materials based on subject matter or standard library classification systems and record into Accession Register and update in the system.
• Respond to users complaints, taking action as necessary.
• Organize collections of books, publications, documents, and other reference materials for convenient access.
• Evaluate materials to determine outdated or unused items to be discarded.
• Compile lists of books, periodicals, articles on particular subjects.
• Assemble and arrange display materials.
• To collect money for Xerox materials and Printouts from the users and submit the payment to the management
• Maintain Register for Internet Users.
• Maintain Journal Register and CD Register on receipt of Journals and CDs.
• Any other work as and when entrusted by the management from time to time.

Job Specification:  

• Qualification: Degree or Certificate Course in Library Science
• Experience: >10 yrs working in a Library
• Skills & Attributes required: Books Management, Organizing Skills, Computer Skills, Interpersonal Skills
