Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our mission-critical database infrastructure, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL at scale.

You will leverage your deep expertise in database administration, cloud services, and automation to optimize our database operations and support our growing data needs.

Responsibilities :

- Manage and maintain multiple relational database management systems (RDBMS), with a focus on PostgreSQL at scale.

- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of production databases.

- Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations.

- Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.

- Develop and maintain database documentation and operational procedures.

- Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.

- Perform performance tuning and optimization to ensure optimal database performance.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance issues.

- Implement and maintain database monitoring tools and dashboards.

Cloud Database Management:

- Manage and administer databases on AWS Aurora and/or RDS services.

- Implement and maintain cloud-based database solutions.

- Optimize cloud database costs and resource utilization.

- Ensure security and compliance of cloud databases.

- Automate database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) for database deployments.

- Integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines.

- Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems.

- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical database issues.

- Diagnose and resolve database incidents and outages.

- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.

- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure database solutions meet business requirements.

- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Required Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Experience :

- 4+ years of hands-on experience in operating mission-critical PostgreSQL databases at scale.

- Extensive experience with performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning.

- Experience with AWS Aurora and/or RDS services and cloud database management.

- Experience with automation using scripting languages for DevOps automation.

Skills :

- Strong understanding of relational database concepts and principles.

- Expertise in PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.

- Experience with cloud database services (AWS Aurora, RDS).

- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
