Senior IT Technologist - Release Management

The IT Release Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and controlling of software development and deployment processes. This role ensures that releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.

• Manage and coordinate the end-to-end release process, including planning, scheduling, and executing software releases across multiple platforms.

• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth and timely deployment of software.

• Create and maintain a release calendar, working closely with stakeholders to align releases with business priorities.

• Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues related to software releases.

• Ensure that release processes and procedures are followed, including adherence to change management and compliance requirements.

• Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and go/no-go decision meetings.

• Document and communicate release plans, schedules, and status updates to stakeholders.

• Continuously improve release management processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on the success of release activities.

• Establish and maintain release cadence and coordinate activities across technical teams

• Build and maintain deployment schedules and activities across multiple non-prod environments

• Facilitate status meetings and release planning meetings

• Build detailed cutover plans and clearly understand the dependencies across the release

• Ensure all required tasks are included on the cutover plan and executed in the allotted time

• Continuous improvement to make each release process better and faster

• Verbal and written communications to teams and stakeholders

• Build detailed refresh activity plans and understand dependencies for each environment refresh

SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects - from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have practical knowledge of project management.

7+ years of experience with a bachelor s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree or equivalent work experience.

• Proven experience as an IT Release Manager or in a similar role within a software development environment.

• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.

• Experience with release management tools and technologies.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
