Wellness Counsellor at Geeta Gyan Sansthan, Kurukshetra

Role & responsibilities

• Health Education & Counselling:
• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions at wellness camps, focusing on health education for diverse groups (children, adolescents, men, and women) including HCWs.
• Provide structured/pre-defined wellness advice and support based on the specific health needs of each group, addressing topics such as nutrition, preventive healthcare behaviour, NCDs, and lifestyle changes etc.
• Create awareness campaigns to promote healthy habits and behaviours within the community.
• Stakeholder Liaison & Coordination:
• Collaborate with program teams to ensure effective coordination, resource allocation, and the smooth delivery of wellness programs.
• Act as the primary point of contact for wellness-related inquiries, working closely with field-level teams and HCWs to ensure the successful execution of camp activities.
• Community Outreach & Engagement:
• Develop and implement community outreach strategies to encourage participation in wellness camps.
• Organize and lead awareness sessions, focusing on specific health concerns of target groups (e.g., maternal health, child nutrition, gestational diabetes and anaemia in pregnant women, etc.), identify brand champions, and build capacity of HCWs.
• Empower community members to adopt sustainable health practices by promoting self-care, preventive measures, and wellness initiatives.
• Travel & Field Operations:
• Travel extensively to different camp locations, providing on-ground counselling and ensuring the effective delivery of wellness programs.
• Support camp setup and operations, providing guidance on wellness activities, health screenings, and medical support services.
• Reporting & Documentation:
• Maintain detailed records of counselling sessions, baseline data, camp activities, participant feedback, and health data.
• Provide regular reports on camp outcomes, challenges, and progress to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education:
• Bachelors degree or certification in public health, GNM, B.Sc Nursing, BSc/MSc Nutrition, psychology, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in counselling, public health, or community outreach, preferably in a health or wellness camp setting.
• Experience in working with diverse populations, including women, children, and senior citizens, is a plus.[KK1]
• Skills:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and educate diverse groups.
• Ability to provide culturally sensitive health counselling and advice.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Willingness to travel frequently to various locations.
• Compassionate, patient, and empathetic with a passion for promoting health and wellness in the community.
• Strong leadership and facilitation skills to engage participants and lead health awareness sessions.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while also independently managing responsibilities.
