Responsibilities:
Design and implement crash test programs to evaluate vehicle safety features and systems.
Coordinate with design and development teams to integrate safety requirements into vehicle designs.
Set up and conduct crash tests, including frontal, side, rear, and rollover tests in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
Analyse crash test data to assess the performance of vehicles and safety components.
Utilize high-speed data acquisition systems and video analysis tools to capture and analyse crash test data.
Prepare detailed crash test reports and make recommendations for design improvements.
Work with suppliers to develop and validate new safety features and equipment.
Stay up-to-date with global safety regulations and industry best practices.
Collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Support the development of computational models for crash simulations.
Participate in post-crash analysis and vehicle teardowns to study the effects of crash on vehicle structures.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of test procedures and methodologies.
Qualifications:
Preferred Skills:
Experience with high-speed cameras and data acquisition systems.
Familiarity with industry standards such as NCAP, FMVSS, and Euro NCAP.
Knowledge of vehicle repair and reconstruction following crash tests.
Certification in crash test dummy instrumentation and calibration.
Working Conditions:
Work typically takes place in a combination of office settings and high-energy test environments.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when on the test floor.
Some travel may be required to attend conferences, training, or to work with external testing facilities.
