Infection Control Nurse

Role & responsibilities

• Candidate must done Infection Control course or Post Graduation in Infection Control course.
• Compliance of nursing manuals/ protocols at all circumstances while on duty.
• Plans, organizes, and delivers nursing care in a manner that upholds organizational values, healing, and promotion of health and prevention of complications.
• Performs nursing procedures as per the set protocols in the department.
• Practices in a manner which is always a client centered and fitting to an excellent corporate hospital, reforming the impression that the hospital regards client (Patient/ Family) as the focal recipient of excellent care, respect, friendly communication and professional behavior.
• Take immediate action to resolve or clear any negative impression, complaint or distress expressed in any way by the patient or family.
• Practice in a manner which avoids the patient or family having negative feelings, complaints, distress or bed impression of nursing care or the hospital.
• Floats as a helper to other areas as and when directed by superiors

Preferred candidate profile

• Provides information, training, guidance and support for prevention and control of infection within the hospital.
• Responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of Hospital Acquired infections; educating employees about infection control and ensuring the implementation of various infection control policies in the hospital.
• Assessing environmental control through surveillance of water supply systems as needed, air pressure relationships for high risk environmental monitoring.
• Collecting data in support of epidemiological studies of specific problems or problem areas to determine the source of the problem and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitoring and surveillance of Bio-Medical Waste Management practices & protocols.
• Assistance in the vaccination of employees.
• Provide information of notifiable disease to medical officer.
• Participation in teaching and practical demonstration of control of infection techniques to all categories of staff.
• Informing the administration (Nursing Superintendent) of practical problems and difficulties in carrying out routine procedures related to infection control.
• Attending relevant committee meetings, seminars, workshops or infection control update the knowledge.
• Conferring with the sterile supply manager about certain infections in the hospital.
• Conducts clinical audit to make sure that, the high standard of care in place in relation to the infection control and prevention.
• Updates his/ her knowledge by participating in the clinical governance meeting.
• Cascade the updated information to the infection control link nurses at the local area.
