Position : AVP - Product Engineering
Location : Mumbai
Experience : 8-15 Years
Reporting to : Group CTO / PMO
Education : A bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, business management, or a related field. Any relevant project management related experience. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
Role Summary :
This role is to lead the product engineering team.
Main Responsibilities are :
- Lead the Product Engineering team to ideate, create, and launch next-generation products in Risk Management including Climate Risk, Market Data, and Fixed Income areas.
- Ensure timely and budget-compliant execution of product development and upgrades.
- Maintain high standards of security and compliance as per RBI and SEBI guidelines. In summary, this role demands a balance of visionary thinking, technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a deep understanding of the BFSI market to drive the Company's success in delivering market-leading products and solutions
Key Responsibilities :
Managerial Responsibilities :
- Liaise with business heads and product domain teams to understand current and future product requirements.
- Down the roadmap to keep product updated technologically, by getting relevant technical inputs from IAL Domain team, and from customer IT teams where appropriate.
- Plan, execute, and launch products and upgrades within the allotted time and budget.
- Proficiency in Enterprise Architecture and product architecture using Microsoft and Java technologies.
- Implementing SoA along with a three-tier setup across applications to ensure modularity and scalability.
- Transitioning to microservices-based architecture to enhance flexibility and scalability.
New Technologies :
- Ability to understand and incorporate next generation technologies like AI / Gen.AI and ML into IAL products as appropriate.
Frontend Technologies :
- Utilizing MVC .NET and .NET Core Frameworks for building robust and scalable frontend applications.
- Leveraging React.JS & AngularJS for dynamic platform development and creating responsive user interfaces.
Backend Technologies :
- Using .NET Core for backend development and IIS for web server management to ensure high performance and security.
- Employing Python Django Framework for building efficient and scalable backend systems2.
Database Technologies :
Microsoft SQL and Oracle :
- Utilizing MS SQL, Oracle PostgreSQL and other RDBMS, for reliable and efficient data storage and management.
- Implementing NoSQL databases like MongoDB/Redis for handling large volumes of unstructured data.
Reporting and ETL :
- Using Reporting services like MS SQL Reporting Services for generating comprehensive reports and insights.
- Leveraging SSIS for automating ETL jobs and integrating data from various sources.
Release management :
- Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools.
- Knowledge of security standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong Practitioner of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
- Email & Notification Module: Managing email and notification services for timely communication.
B. Product Development Leadership :
- Oversee the development, enhancement, and deployment of all products from a Technology perspective, including risk management and market data solutions.
- Define the technology roadmap for current and future products in alignment with the domain & business teams, thereby fulfilling the needs of the BFSI market.
- Collaborate with product managers to prioritize product features, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
C. Project Delivery & Governance :
- Ensure that all product development & end-customer implementation projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Implement governance processes to monitor progress, risks, and delivery metrics across the technology portfolio.
- Align product development with customer needs, ensuring successful customer implementations and product enhancements as required.
D. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement :
- Implement robust quality assurance frameworks to maintain the highest standards of product performance, security, and reliability.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement, implementing feedback loops for enhancing product development processes and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all deliveries are done with high quality and measured quality metrics as part of the team's KRA.
E. Compliance & Risk Management :
- Ensure that all technology solutions comply with ISO 27001, industry regulations, data privacy standards, and security protocols, particularly for the BFSI market.
- Implement risk management strategies in product development to mitigate potential security, operational, and market risks.
Timely escalation to senior management in the unlikely event of an unexpected outcome. Envision the business value of every application and take it to the next level of giving continued business value.
Qualifications & Certification :
- A bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, business management, or a related field.
- Any relevant project management related experience.
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
Experience :
- A total of 8 to 15 years in IT and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Software Product Architecture & Management.
- Product Management Experience in working in the BFSI Domain is preferred.
Technical & Functional Competencies :
- Must have worked as a programmer in early career in .Net, Java, or other equivalent platforms.
- Must have working knowledge of development processes, like Code Repository, CI/CD, Automated builds,
- Source code versioning, Code Complexity, Manual and automated testing, Dev, SIT and UAT testing and project risk management.
- Ability / Experience of understanding financial risk management, like Credit Risk management etc. will be preferred.
- ITIL and/or SEI CMM Level 3 upwards experience or working in RBI/SEBI environment will be preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of project management, program management and project portfolio management.
- Should be well-versed with principles of project management, SDLC, Quality Assurance processes, cost & time tracking, EVA, Resource allocation, time budget tracking.
- Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and other forms of project management.
