IT System Administrator

Role & responsibilities

• Hardware Installation & Maintenance:
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, servers, printers, and other IT peripherals.
• Ensure all hardware is operational and performs regular checks to prevent failures or downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues in a timely manner.
• Perform hardware upgrades and replacements as required.
• Network Administration:
• Configure and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks.
• Install and configure networking equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Ensure network connectivity and troubleshoot issues related to performance or connectivity.
• System Security:
• Implement and manage network security protocols, including firewalls, encryption, and VPNs.
• Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and address potential security risks.
• Maintain antivirus software and other security tools to protect against malware and unauthorized access.
• CCTV Installation:
• Install, configure, and set up CCTV cameras, recorders, and other related equipment.
• Set up wiring and connections for both analog and IP-based surveillance systems.
• Ensure proper camera placement for optimal coverage and system performance.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of CCTV systems to ensure all equipment is functioning properly.
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty CCTV equipment, including cameras, DVRs/NVRs, monitors, and other components.
• Test and calibrate systems to ensure that they meet operational and security standards.
• System Integration:
• Integrate CCTV systems with other security systems (e.g., alarm systems, access control) as needed.
• Configure remote viewing and control features, allowing users to access footage via mobile apps or PC interfaces.
• Technical Support:
• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members regarding CCTV system usage, configurations, and troubleshooting.
• Respond to service requests, handle department manager inquiries, and resolve any system-related issues in a timely manner.
• Security & Compliance:
• Ensure that all CCTV systems are compliant with local and national regulations related to data privacy and surveillance.
• Perform system updates and ensure proper data storage and archiving protocols are followed.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain records of CCTV system installations, maintenance, repairs, and user interactions.
• Prepare reports on system performance, maintenance schedules, and any issues encountered.
• Training (if applicable):
• Provide training to team members on the proper use and maintenance of CCTV systems.
• Offer guidance on how to retrieve and view recorded footage and set up user access levels.
• Troubleshooting & Support:
• Provide technical support to employees, both remotely and on-site, for hardware and network issues.
• Diagnose and resolve network and hardware-related problems promptly.
• Maintain a log of issues and resolutions for future reference.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate inventory records for hardware and software.
• Document system configurations, network diagrams, and other technical resources.
• Report on hardware performance, system issues, and network uptime to management.
• Upgrades & Improvements:
• Stay up to date with the latest hardware and networking technologies.
• Propose improvements to the network and hardware systems based on current and future needs.
