Civil Manager

Role & responsibilities

1. Civil Maintenance & Repair Work

• Oversee regular maintenance and repair of existing plant structures, including DRI kilns, power plants, ferroalloy units, EAF, LRFs, rolling mills, and auxiliary infrastructure.
• Identify and resolve civil-related structural issues affecting production or safety.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety standards for all repair and maintenance work.

2. Project Execution & Management

• Lead civil engineering aspects of ongoing and upcoming projects like Wagon Tippler, 1600mm X 8 belt conveyors, Sinter Plant, and induction furnace sheds.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and consultants for timely execution of work.
• Ensure adherence to structural safety norms and regulatory standards.
• Monitor budgets, material procurement, and manpower deployment for civil projects.

3. Structural Integrity & Safety Compliance

• Conduct periodic structural integrity assessments of key plant buildings, sheds, and foundations.
• Implement preventive maintenance plans for critical plant structures.
• Ensure compliance with industry safety, environmental, and legal regulations.

4. Vendor & Contractor Management

• Liaise with civil contractors and suppliers for construction and repair activities.
• Evaluate contractor performance and ensure quality control at all stages of execution.
• Optimize cost and time efficiency in all civil-related work.

5. Coordination with Other Departments

• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and production teams for infrastructure support.
• Support to ASL plannts - PP, DRI, FAP, RM and SMS etc in its expansion / modification projects with civil engineering expertise.
• Provide input on civil design modifications based on operational needs.

• Key Requirements:

• Strong experience in steel plant civil works, including sheds, foundations, conveyor systems, and heavy structural steel.
• In-depth knowledge of concrete, steel structures, and foundation engineering.
• Expertise in project planning, execution, budgeting, and contractor management.
• Familiarity with civil maintenance requirements in high-temperature and heavy-load environments.
• Understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and statutory approvals. IS and TS standards familiarization.
• Proficiency in civil engineering software like AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, and MS Project.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skill
