Job Description

Role & responsibilities


1. Procurement: Managing the purchasing process for all goods and services required by the resort, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.

2. Vendor Management: Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts, and evaluating vendor performance.

3. Inventory Management: Overseeing inventory levels, monitoring stock levels, and implementing systems to optimize inventory turnover while minimizing excess or obsolete stock.

4. Cost Control: Implementing cost-saving measures and strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards.

5. Budgeting: Developing and managing budgets for the procurement department, ensuring expenditures align with financial goals.

6. Quality Control: Ensuring all purchased goods and services meet quality standards and specifications set by the resort.

7. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies related to procurement and purchasing activities.

8. Team Management: Supervising and leading a team of purchasing staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

9. Reporting: Generating reports and providing analysis related to purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost-saving initiatives.

10. Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in procurement processes.

Overall, the purchase manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the resort by effectively managing the procurement of goods and services essential for its operation.



Preferred candidate profile

1. Education: A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, hospitality management, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certifications like Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) can be advantageous.

2. Experience: Several years of experience in procurement, preferably in the hospitality industry or a related field. Experience in purchasing goods and services specific to resorts, such as food and beverage, linens, equipment, and amenities, is highly desirable.

3. Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of procurement practices, vendor management, and inventory control within the hospitality or resort industry. Understanding of industry trends, suppliers, and market dynamics is important.

4. Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and pricing from vendors while maintaining quality standards.

5. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make data-driven decisions to optimize procurement processes and reduce expenses.

6. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

7. Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to liaise with vendors, internal stakeholders, and team members. Ability to articulate requirements, negotiate contracts, and resolve issues diplomatically.

8. Leadership Abilities: Leadership qualities to lead a team of purchasing professionals, motivate team members, and foster a collaborative work environment.

9. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in procurement processes, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with regulations.
