LFL is planning for a significant growth within the next 5 years, and our Indian plant (LLIPL) is the centre piece for this growth plan driving productivity, cost savings and throughput. Operations Manager will be responsible for transitioning the Indian plant to the next level.
Job Dimension
This is a full-time onsite role based in our Indian plant (Vadodara, Gujarat). This role reports to General Manager of the business based in UK and the main objective of this role will be to lead development and implementation of operational strategy for the business. This role requires an outstanding leader, communicator and exceptional team player who can lead and motivate the operations team.
Key activities of this role include the following:
Strategic operational plan for the business Development and Implementation
Tactical budget operational plan for the business Development and Implementation
Drive production and operational activities in line with monthly targets
Optimise cost and increase throughput and efficiency through automation
Quality assurance and control of both existing and new products
Timely delivery of products through optimised stock levels and increased efficiency / throughput of production lines.
Management of purchasing, supply chain and logistical activities
Promote Health and Safety and make the environment a safer space to work.
Key Accountabilities
These will include:
Oversee day to day operations of the plant. Develop and implement operational strategies and process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs and improve quality.
Create and implement medium term operational plan focusing on capacity management, workforce planning, equipment / facility modernisation, process improvements, supply chain strategy and new product development support.
Create and implement yearly budget operational plan focusing on production strategy to meet budgeted sales, cost saving initiatives, facility improvements, supply chain / purchasing efficiencies, Capex / Opex projects and headcount requirements.
Drive and manage business processes from acquiring raw materials and production through to sales.
Participate in weekly and monthly progress meetings and update the leadership team on agreed KPIs and performance against budget.
Work towards optimising material, labour and production overhead costs (where feasible) to increase gross profit for the operations.
Manage labour efficiencies and control labour and material ratios.
Controlling inventory levels, storage and focusing on stock turn targets.
Create automation roadmap for the plant and implement the same to reduce cost, increase throughput and efficiency.
Work towards meeting key KPIs including on time delivery, defects per parts per million, plant efficiency etc.
Identify, negotiate and implement supply chain for new product development activities. Further, manage and nurture strategic suppliers for the plant
Attract, retain and nurture production / operational talent within the team keeping medium term goals in mind.
Ensure H&S initiatives are well communicated within the plant and aspire for zero accidents on site. Encourage a safe work culture amongst employees.
Work with plant employees and strive for continuous improvement culture.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
15+ years experience within operational and production roles. Preferably 3 to 5 years experience as an operations manager.
Experience in working in a manufacturing environment, especially electrical circuit protection would be a major advantage.
Education: Ideal candidate will have a B.E / B. Tech qualification preferably a master s level in production / operations management.
Excellent knowledge of production management and quality requirements.
Experience in implementing lean manufacturing techniques
Experience in project managing change projects within a manufacturing set-up
Experience in establishing supply chain and production lines for new products
Expertise in interpreting financial data and experience in problem solving.
Experience in optimising and enhancing business systems (ERP) through process improvements
Exceptional organisational and time management skills
Experience in collaborating with global/ cross cultural teams.
Strong computer skills with high level of proficiency in Microsoft office and other related business systems.
Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills.
High level of initiative with the ability to self-motivate.
