Firmware Engineer

Introduction:
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Firmware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded firmware development, C and C++ programming, and a solid understanding of hardware integration. As a Firmware Engineer, you will work on developing, testing, and optimizing firmware solutions for embedded systems, with a focus on hardware-level interactions and system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Firmware Development:
   
• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for micro-controller-based systems using C and C++ programming languages.
• Write efficient, modular, and reusable code for embedded systems.
• Implement low-level drivers and optimize code to ensure efficient use of memory and processing power.

1. Hardware Integration:
   
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to design and implement firmware solutions that interface with embedded hardware components.
• Work on the integration and testing of firmware with the hardware to ensure proper functionality and performance.
• Troubleshoot and debug hardware and firmware issues, identifying and resolving problems effectively.

1. Embedded System Design:
   
• Develop firmware solutions for embedded systems using microcontrollers and embedded processors.
• Implement communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.) to interact with peripheral devices.
• Work on the configuration of system resources such as timers, interrupts, and power management features.

1. Testing & Debugging:
   
• Perform unit testing, system testing, and hardware-in-the-loop testing to ensure the firmware meets specifications and works seamlessly with hardware.
• Use tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debugging software to troubleshoot and debug embedded systems.

1. Collaboration & Documentation:
   
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, product managers, and quality assurance, to ensure successful product development and deployment.
• Prepare detailed documentation for the firmware development process, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
• Provide technical support for firmware-related issues and assist with system-level debugging and troubleshooting.

1. Renesas Platform Development:
   
• Work with Renesas micro controllers and development platforms for firmware development.
• Develop firmware that is optimized for Renesas embedded hardware.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Renesas product offerings and development tools to continuously improve firmware solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in embedded firmware development.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming languages for embedded systems.
• Experience with embedded hardware development, including hardware-software interfacing.
• Hands-on experience with Renesas micro controllers and development platforms.
• Solid understanding of embedded system design principles, including memory management, interrupts, and hardware communication protocols.
• Familiarity with development tools such as compilers, debuggers, and emulators.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other debugging tools.
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
