Job Summary:

The Sr Engineering Manager is a leader with definitive engineering ownership. He/She is expected to be Technically competent and also a strong People leader. The candidate should also be able to influence the product backlog with right balance of business and technical debt stories. You will be an engineering culture driver for Lowes. The candidate should be well versed in distributed and micro-service architecture along with good Front end technology knowledge.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead a team (or teams) of software engineers in the development, configuration and modification of integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions.
This includes providing oversight of the implementation and maintenance of business and enterprise software solutions to ensure successful deployment of released applications.
This individual also provides insight and recommendations to inform the roadmap and overall health and care of the larger portfolio.
This is a leader of people who clears obstacles for his/her team while empowering and enabling others to solve complex technical and business problems. To be successful, the individual in this role must bring a strong combination of business and technical acumen and be able to provide solutions that balance the unique needs of both the business and Technology.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Build, Groom, Retain and Performance manage the engineering team
  • Engineering and Delivery ownership of one or more products for the entire product life cycle.
  • Partner with the Product Owner(s) and influence the product backlog to have a balance between the business stories and core engineering / technology debt stories
  • Drive engineering best practices
  • Review design and code, and provide timely feedback to the team
  • Be able to problem solve and guide the team for resolving complex issues
  • Measure and manage production stability indices of the product(s)
  • Proactively identify integration dependencies with various enterprise products and channel it to the product backlog
  • Drive everyday innovation culture with in the teams and beyond
  • Represent the product architecture and design with the Architecture and Leadership community
  • Share learnings and best practices with the global engineering community

Years of Experience:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
8 years of IT experience
4 years of experience in software engineering or related field
5 years working on project(s) involving the implementation of software development life cycles (SDLC)
3 years of experience leading project or technical teams with or without formal direct report responsibility; this includes experience providing technical direction, thought leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members

Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
8 years of IT experience

Primary Skills (must have)

  • You must have 2+ years of either hands on or leadership experience in minimum 2 complex and distributed applications and/or platforms. You MUST have very good understanding and working experience on the following:
  • Distributed architecture
  • Micro-services architecture, Micro-frontend architecture and REST standards
  • Experience in Kotlin, Android, Micronaut and No-SQL database like PostgreSQL.
  • Resiliency, Scalability and Performance engineering
  • Expert in design principles and patterns, low-level to high-level software design and building full stack application by applying modern architecture
  • Strong advocate of test-driven and behavioral-driven development using test automation framework like, Cucumber, Rest assured.
  • CI/CD pipeline including Docker, Kubernetes
  • People management
