Senior Linux Engineer

Job Title: Senior Linux Administrator (AWS & Cloud-Native Technologies)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Linux Administrator with deep expertise in Linux operations and a good-to-have knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud-native technologies. The ideal candidate should have experience managing Linux systems at scale, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and working with containerized and distributed systems.

A solid understanding of databases, message brokers, caching solutions, web servers, and big data processing tools will be an added advantage. The role requires a proactive problem solver who can optimize system performance, enhance security, and automate infrastructure tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Administration & Operations (Primary Focus)

• Install, configure, and manage Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) in production environments.
• Perform system hardening, patching, and security updates to ensure stability and compliance.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot OS and network issues, and ensure optimal performance.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and kernel tuning for efficiency.
• Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for critical workloads.
• Automate repetitive tasks using Bash, Python, or PowerShell scripting.
• Configure and optimize web and application servers (Tomcat, Apache, Nginx).
• Work with message brokers (Amazon MQ, RabbitMQ) and distributed system coordination tools (Zookeeper).

AWS Cloud & DevOps (Secondary, Good-to-Know Knowledge)

• Deploy and manage Linux workloads on AWS EC2 and EKS clusters.
• Optimize databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL - AWS Managed & Self-Managed Master-Slave setups).
• Work with AWS Managed Kafka (MSK) for streaming applications.
• Configure caching services like ElastiCache (Redis/Memcached) and MemoryDB.
• Manage search and document stores (OpenSearch, DocumentDB).
• Optimize content delivery with CloudFront and API management using API Gateway.
• Configure and troubleshoot Elastic Load Balancers (ELB), SQS, and auto-scaling.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for automation.
• Support microservices frameworks (Spring Boot) running on Kubernetes.
