Job Description

Position Title: Physics Facilitator

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Physics Facilitator to join our team at an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inquiry-based lessons in Physics, fostering a deep understanding of scientific concepts in line with the IB curriculum. The Physics Facilitator will inspire students to think critically, solve problems, and explore the real-world applications of Physics while developing their research and collaborative skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
    • Plan and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in Physics for IB Diploma Programme (DP) students (Grades 11-12).
    • Ensure lessons are in alignment with the IB Physics curriculum, emphasizing conceptual understanding, experimental work, and scientific inquiry.
    • Promote interdisciplinary learning and make connections between Physics and other subjects in the IB framework.
  2. Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Develop and implement formative and summative assessments that align with the IB criteria and help monitor students' progress.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on assignments, lab work, and exams to support their growth and development.
    • Guide students through the IB internal assessment process, ensuring the quality of their experimental investigations.
  3. Student Development and Support:
    • Foster a learning environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and independent research.
    • Support students in their academic development, helping them with their Extended Essays, TOK (Theory of Knowledge) projects, and preparation for exams.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to students, encouraging them to explore Physics beyond the classroom.
  4. Classroom Management:
    • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment that adheres to IB guidelines and school safety protocols.
    • Encourage active student participation, collaborative learning, and the use of digital tools to enhance learning experiences.
  5. Collaboration and Professional Development:
    • Work closely with other faculty members within the science department to share best practices and ensure the overall academic success of students.
    • Actively participate in school meetings, professional development workshops, and IB training sessions to stay current with IB teaching strategies and standards.
    • Collaborate with the IB Coordinator and other staff to review and refine the curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  6. Co-Curricular Activities:
    • Organize and participate in extracurricular activities related to Physics, such as science clubs, fairs, field trips, or competitions.
    • Encourage students to engage in research projects or pursue internships to deepen their understanding of Physics.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • A Masters degree (M.Sc.) in Physics is required; a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Physics with relevant experience may be considered.
    • A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in Physics at the IB Diploma Programme level (Grades 11-12).
    • Familiarity with the IB curriculum, teaching methodologies, and assessment criteria is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of IB educational principles, including inquiry-based learning and concept-driven instruction.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to engage students with diverse learning styles and foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
    • Proficiency in using educational technology and laboratory equipment to enhance teaching and learning.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage classroom resources and assessments effectively
