We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Lead with at least 10 years of accounting, bookkeeping, and overall finance experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in growing organizations, be proactive, systems savvy, and capable of managing and overseeing all finance-related activities. This role also includes the opportunity to grow the finance team and requires strong leadership qualities. The ability to tell stories from the numbers and use financial data to drive business growth is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. Financial Accounting and Reporting:
- Manage maintenance of the company's general ledger system in Xero.
- Record funds spent as bills/expenses/capitalized costs.
- Record funds received as revenues or investments.
- Record and allocate payroll payments, as applicable.
- Attach all available documents to general ledger entries.
- Perform analysis, recording, and posting of all other business-related transactions.
- Prepare financial statements and schedules on a periodic basis.
- Perform month-end account reconciliation and verify transactions.
- Analyze and record month-end journal entries such as accruals, depreciation, and amortization.
- Prepare financial analysis and other reports on a periodic basis.
2. Accounts Payable:-
- Perform analysis, classification, recording, summarization, and posting of daily transactions.
- Record vendor invoices and update accounts payable ledger.
- Track, record, and process corporate costs and expense reimbursements.
- Prepare accounts payable schedules for management review and approval.
- Queue disbursement runs for management approval and release.
- Communicate with vendors.
3. Accounts Receivable:-
- Monitor collections on a weekly basis and send prompt collection reminders.
- Communicate with customers to ensure timely payments.
- Perform analysis, classification, recording, summarization, and posting of daily transactions.
- Update accounts receivable ledger for aging analysis.
4. Inventory and Cost Accounting:
- Record cost adjustments and perform reconciliation of inventory cycles.
- Perform periodic counts and record necessary inventory adjustments.
- Create manual journal entries to reflect inventory movements.
- 5. Bank Reconciliation:-
- Reconcile transactions in various accounts such as Chase, Amex, Bill.com Clearing Accounts, and Paypal.
- Match appropriate documents with bank lines and address unclear items as open items.
6. Management Reporting:-
- Ensure all open items and outstanding transactions are reconciled before preparing management reports.
- Prepare comprehensive reports including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Gross Profit Analysis, and Cash Flow Statement.
7. Dispute Management:-
- Handle disputes for charges by filing disputes and following up as necessary.
- Communicate with relevant parties to resolve disputes and provide supporting evidence.
8. Financial Storytelling:-
- Ability to tell stories from the numbers and use financial data to provide unique insights.
- Help grow the business by interpreting financial data and providing actionable recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and finance.
- Experience working in growing organizations, preferably in the natural food or FMCG sector.
- Proficient in accounting systems such as Xero and QuickBooks.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and systems savvy.
- Strong communication skills across Slack, email, and phone.
- Proficiency in English.
- Leadership qualities and experience with team growth and management.
- Ability to work U.S. hours (Central Time) or be flexible in working with U.S. clients in U.S. hours.
