Microbiologist

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to work Under minimal supervision, the Microbiologist is responsible for performing microbiological testing including micro plating, sterile sampling, swabbing, etc. This position also supports the to production by ensuring yeast viability, investigating fermentation issues, and auditing critical processes.

Qualification:

• M.Sc. in Microbiology/Biotechnology

Experience and Preferences:

• 2-5 years of microbiology lab experience preferably in any yeast fermentation plants/ other similar industries
• Male Candidates preferred

Essential Duties :

• Utilizes microplates for analysis of products and bulk wort/yeast samples Swabs and analyzes packaging machines to ensure sterility
• Collects samples from fermentation tanks and conducts analyses
• Performs environmental monitoring to ensure a low micro load in packaging facility
• Maintains standards of the microbiology lab to ensure accuracy
• Prepares media and microplates
• Performs process and sanitation audits
• Yeast culture preparation
• Manages finished product inventory hold and release process
• Investigates microbiological issues and/or failures to determine root cause
• Should have handled lab equipments like spectrophotometer, autoclave, incubator, pilot plants, Moisture analyzer, ph meter, lab centrifuge etc.
• Sound knowledge of Yeast and its derivative products.
• Other duties may be assigned
• Report to QC Head for day to day activities

Excellent Organizational skills, Documentation

Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, office automation tools)

Strong critical thinking skills

Basic knowledge of sanitation practices

Implement and follow ISO guidelines of QMS and FSMS, KOSHER

Working Conditions

Lab environment

Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations

Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipment

May need to determine color, taste and smell of yeast and its derivatives using eyes, tongue, and nose

Should have worked in large scale fermentation plant.

Local candidates will not be preferred.
