KONE Elevator - Solution Architect (10-20 yrs)

The APM IT Solution Architect is a strategic role that oversees the local IT products and applications specific to a designated area or region. This role ensures that the architecture of these products and applications aligns with both the global enterprise architecture and the unique needs of the local business environment.

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the local IT landscape, including products, applications, and integration points.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand regional requirements and translate them into architectural solutions.

- Ensure that local IT solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with global IT strategies, guidelines, and policies.

- Periodically review and evaluate if global solution can fulfill the regional requirements.

- Provide architectural guidance and oversight for regional IT initiatives, ensuring alignment global IT architecture and guidance, consistency and quality in design and implementation.

- Facilitate communication between local and global IT teams and collaborate closely with the global architects to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.

- Analyze and address regional architectural issues, including performance bottlenecks, cyber non-compliance risks, scalability challenges, and technical debt and suggesting approach to mitigate the issues.

Deliverables:

- Reference architecture for Area, target architecture, including transition architecture.

- Technology and solution positioning.

- Architectural principles, standards, and guidelines.

- New technology evaluations and selections.

- Evaluation of the global solutions suitability.

Performance measures:

- Future-proofness IT products and platforms are built in a sustainable, scalable manner that aligns with the global IT strategy and backwards compatibility breaks are done only based on a business decision and proper execution plan. Architecture debt is identified and managed to improve the fitness.

- Alignment Degree to which local IT architecture aligns with global standards and supports regional business objectives.

- Responsiveness Ability to quickly adapt local IT solutions to changing business needs and market conditions.

- Efficiency KONE-wide efficiency (speed, cost, quality) in development and operations via modularity & sharing.

- Clarity provide structure and guidance for planning & decisions from enterprise architecture perspective.

Competence profile:

- Strong understanding of both enterprise and product architecture principles.

- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

- Experience in managing architectural projects within a specific region.

- Knowledge of local business practices, regulatory requirements, and market trends.

- Broad overall technology understanding, deeper understanding of key technologies related to own area, both from technological and business implications point of view, with strong experience of complex solutions and programs.

- Strategy and road mapping capability to understand and contribute to technology strategy and road mapping work, with a good understanding of KONE business strategy.

- Long term and portfolio mindset capability to plan beyond the next release or quarter and optimize architecture for the active lifetime of a solution as well as for a broad portfolio of related solutions.

- System thinking capability to understand complex systems, their dynamics, and interactions, and break them down to actionable inputs to different stakeholders.

- Innovation familiarity with technology trends, service, and technology innovations relevant for KONE and smart building industries.

- Organizational development designing teams and processes to meet strategic goals.

- Engineering and development methods - specifically those methodologies used in own domain (e.g., waterfall, agile, testing, DevOps).

- Operations understanding aspects after development, including operations, maintenance and service management, support, and troubleshooting. DevOps experience in domains where applicable.

- Subcontracting and partnership capability to work effectively with external parties, understanding of subcontracting models, contracts, and processes.

- Relevant educational qualifications (e.g., B.E. in Computer Science or equivalent related field).

- A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT architecture, with a focus on regional or area specific solutions.

- Proven track record of successful architectural design and implementation in a regional context.
