Kloud9 - Principal Architect - Google Cloud Platform (12-20 yrs)

This senior-level, individual/team contributor role is designed for an experienced architect with hands-on technical leadership and strong expertise in a diversified technologies. The role will be instrumental in driving and overseeing architecture, design and implementation of complex, high-impact data/technical projects across multiple engineering and technology teams.

You will work with senior stakeholders to guide the strategic direction of our technology initiatives, contributing significantly to shaping the future of our software architecture and engineering practices.

Responsibilities :

System Design & Architecture :

- Expertise in providing E2E solutions for complex business problems and should be technology agonistic

- Design and implement scalable, distributed systems that are highly reliable, secure, and performant.

- Use strong system design principles to create adaptable architectures for future growth and innovation.

- Lead the design and development of system architectures for engineering projects, ensuring scalability,performance, and security

- Define technical standards and guidelines to be followed by the development teams.

- Able to bring architecture and designs into problems that are able to meet current and future needs.

- Always forward looking, staying a step ahead, and be knowledgeable on what is going on in the industry, aware of new technologies that are popping up

Technical Leadership :

- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary data/technical projects, collaborating with various engineering teams to drive impactful results.

- Ensure alignment of projects with business objectives and technical standards.

- Owning the E2E solution and driving the stakeholders towards success of the organization

Domain expertise/ Leadership:

- Lead the functional requirements/ domain knowledge among the various stake holders in the organization

- Strong expertise in understanding veracious domains including Retail, inventory management, supply chain, insurance etc data architectures and providing solutions to complex problems by analysing the data

R&D and Innovation :

- Spearhead strategic R&D programs, exploring new technologies and frameworks, with the goal of fostering adoption across the company.

Cloud Architecture :

- Lead the design, development, and optimization of Multi-Cloud & Hybrid-Cloud systems, ensuring seamless integration and performance across cloud platforms.

- Working experience in multiple cloud architectures GCP, Azure or AWS

Hands on Experience :

- Expertise in multi cloud and hybrid cloud solutions/architectures

- Should be hands on. Able to sit and work with engineers to code a complex problem/use case

- Able to debug and find the issue in software within short span of time

- Propose remediation options and later come up with permanent fixes.

Performance Optimization :

- Identify and address system performance issues, optimizing code, architecture, and infrastructure to enhance efficiency and scalability.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and capacity planning.

Cross-Team Collaboration :

- Work across engineering teams to ensure best practices are followed, providing mentorship and technical leadership on architecture, scalability, and system design.

Stakeholder Communication :

- Engage with diverse stakeholder groups, from engineering teams to executive leadership, to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.

- Provide insights on the strategic direction of technology initiatives.

Security & Observability :

- Champion software security and observability engineering across all projects, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and internal standards.

Continuous Improvement :

- Drive initiatives to continuously improve the architecture, engineering processes, and product offerings, ensuring they are aligned with business goals and emerging technology trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Extensive Experience : At least 12-15 years of experience in software development, with atleast 5-8+ years of experience at the architect level, leading large-scale, complex technical projects.

- Technical skills: GCP cloud architecture, GCP Dataproc, GCP Cloud Storage OR Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, PySpark , BigQuery, Databricks, ETL/ELT, Python, Data Modelling, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, Data Visualization, Power BI, Tableau, Agile Scrum, IT Service Management, Client Services, and Techno-Functional Management.

- Experience with software polyglot programming (adopting a technology-agnostic approach to software development) is highly preferred.

- System Design : Expert-level understanding of system design, database principles, distributed systems, scalability, performance, and reliability.

- Cloud & Hybrid Cloud Expertise : Extensive experience with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures, ideally in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar platforms.

- Spark, Big Data & Machine Learning : Familiarity with big data frameworks (e.g, Hadoop, Spark) and machine learning workloads (e.g, TensorFlow, PyTorch) is highly desirable.

- Software Security : Strong background in software security practices, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and secure coding principles.

- Observability & Monitoring : Experience with observability engineering, including distributed tracing, logging, and monitoring systems

- Leadership & Collaboration : Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions, drive decision-making, and work with diverse stakeholder groups across the organization.

- Stakeholder Management : Ability to work closely with business leaders, product managers, and other senior executives to align technology strategies with business objectives.

Desired Skills and Experience :

- Agile Practices : Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with the ability to drive agile adoption and foster a collaborative development environment.
