Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities related to the construction, installation, and maintenance of the sewerage system. The role involves managing technical tasks, ensuring compliance with design specifications, coordinating with teams, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met on the project site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the erection & installation of sewer pipelines, manholes, chambers, and associated structures according to the projects design specifications and BOQ (Bill of Quantities).
• Ensure that the site activities like excavation, pipe laying, backfilling, and manhole construction are executed as per the approved drawings and technical standards.
• Supervise the daily construction activities on-site, ensuring that all work complies with the required safety standards and project timelines.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other site personnel to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
• Provide technical expertise and on-site guidance to solve any design or operational issues that arise during construction.
• Identify and resolve engineering issues related to the underground sewerage system, such as alignment, gradient, and conflicts with existing underground utilities.
• Liaise with Design Engineers, PMP Team/Consultants, and other engineers to resolve technical queries and ensure the project meets the required quality and safety standards.
• Ensure that all materials and work are compliant with project specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices.
• Conduct quality checks and inspections on works such as trenching, pipe-laying, concrete works for manholes, and joint sealing.
• Review and approve technical documents, including method statements, inspection reports, and material testing reports.
• Collaborate with project managers, planning engineers, and safety officers to ensure seamless communication between the site and office teams.
• Coordinate with utility providers, municipalities, and regulatory bodies to ensure that sewer installation activities comply with local codes and regulations.
• Facilitate coordination between various subcontractors (excavation teams, pipe fitters, concrete workers, etc.) to ensure smooth progress and avoid delays.
• Track the daily progress of construction activities and update project schedules, ensuring that deadlines are met for each phase of the UGSS project.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, documenting work completed, site challenges, and proposed solutions.
• Regularly monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, safety, schedule adherence, and resource utilization.
• Manage resources, including manpower, machinery, and materials, to ensure that the work is completed efficiently and within budget.
• Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials (pipes, concrete, fittings) and other construction-related supplies.
• Ensure effective utilization of heavy equipment, such as excavators and trenchers, for sewer pipe installation and earthworks.
• Ensure that all site activities adhere to safety protocols, especially for high-risk operations like deep excavation, trenching, and confined space entry.
• Ensure that all project documentation is regularly updated and complies with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with DPR & M-Book writers to ensure accurate reporting and record-keeping of the work executed.
• Ensure that work is inspected and approved by local regulatory bodies and that any necessary permits and approvals are in place.
• Regularly update the client or project owner on site progress, addressing any concerns or changes required during the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering is a must.
• 2 to 4 years of experience as a site engineer of which minimum of 2 years worked in UGSS projects.
• Proficient in using engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Project, or Primavera) and surveying tools.
• In-depth knowledge of underground utility installation, pipe laying, and trenching techniques.
• Strong understanding of sewerage systems, pipe-laying techniques, and underground utility management
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Supervising safe excavation and backfilling operations, ensuring proper trench protection measures (e.g., shoring, sloping)
• Ensuring the accurate installation of sewer pipes, maintaining proper alignment, gradient, and sealing of joints.
• Overseeing the construction and installation of manholes, chambers, and other access points in the sewerage system
• Supervising work inside manholes and confined spaces, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and air quality monitoring.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly around deep excavation, confined spaces, and handling of wastewater.
