Role Clarification Pharmacist

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Advise patients and answer questions about prescription drugs, including questions about possible side effects and interactions among different drugs;
• Provide information and make recommendations about over-the-counter drugs;
• Check the batch and expiry date of medicine for FIFO protocol.
• Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
• Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage.
• Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
• Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, charge system files, inventories, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
• Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for packing, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
• Monitor and analyze the health of the patient, with respect to the drugs that have been given to the patient.
• Answer the queries of the patients about the probable side effects and benefits of the drug therapy.
• Seek immediate help from the doctor in case the drug shows some side effects on the patient.
• Supervise the medicine store and take proper care of the medicines.
• Alert on short expiry and replenish in time.
• Ensure 5S practice.
