Head Editor (Maths & Science) | Kolkata

Job Description:

We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of 5 years of experience of leading an editorial team in any leading K12-level publishing house/edtech

The candidate should be passionate about content editing and the review of school books and learning material related to the K12 curriculum, and should be excellent in performing quality check of books, lesson plans and other learning material. A strong academic background in Maths & Science is mandatory, with good grades.

The candidate should be a subject matter expert in Maths & Science. The candidate should also be eager to work with academic content, have an inquisitive mind, and should be good at finding and correcting errors. The candidate should be able to reevaluate and review the content of school textbooks (K12 segment), lesson plans and question papers in a meaningful manner, and have the knowledge and experience required to manage a team of editors.

Mandatory Skills:

• An eye for detail
• Good at spotting and correcting errors
• Able to conduct meaningful research and cross-check facts in order to review the content
• Well-versed in basic content editing styles
• Well versed in editing PDF and word soft copies, with PDF tools and track changes
• Familiar with team-building exercises, reviewing and managing team members performances, creating and maintaining trackers and other evaluation tools, taking charge of an entire department

Expectation from the candidate:

• Manage a team with the goal of building a strong and stable Quality Check department for the Maths & Science subjects
• Perform the edit and review of school-level (K-12) books and learning material
• Cross-check all factual details in books, lesson plans and other learning material
• Review the work of team members, provide them training, and guide them
• Maintain and review error trackers to track all errors (both of editors and of the content teams)
• Build an overall strong Quality Check team
