Coke Oven - Mechanical Maintenance

Purpose

The Mechanical engineer is responsible for Manage maintenance activity to prevent breakdown and ensure

100% availability of machinery.

Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators)

1. Independently handling Material Handling system activities like Conveyor drive units, crusher, mixing

machine, vibro-feeders, weigh feeders, coke wharf scrappers, De dusting units.

2. Trouble shooting of equipments to reduce maintenance delay.

3. Implementation of continuous improvement, safety and cost saving initiatives

4. Employees capability building.

Critical Tasks

KRAs and Key Activities

1. Prepare Daily Maintenance Job plan.

2. Manage maintenance activity to prevent breakdown.

3. Manage inspection of equipment and analyse the inspection data as per the PM schedule.

4. Manage the mechanical maintenance repair activities at coke oven material handling system to insure

timely availability of machinery.

5. Ensure the machine availability, Manage the spare management activities of mechanical maintenance

for timely availability of spare parts.

6. Manage the inspection and testing of spare to ensure compatibility and quality of spares Implementing

strategies and frame work for continuous improvement of mechanical maintenance process in coke

oven material handling system.

7. Managing proper recording of data history and its analysis.

8. Proper communication with shift people.

9. Coordinate with operation and other department for smooth maintenance activities.

10. Preparing SMPs for regular jobs.

11. Job safety analysis and Implementation.

12. Help out with day-to-day  equipment housekeeping  work.

13. Check that the premises are safe and not in violation of any safety regulations. 

14. To keep healthy relations within the Mechanical team and other departments.

15. Follow all safety measures.

16. Take active part in TPM, TQM, Six- sigma and kaizen activities.

17. Initiate projects and initiatives under TQM Quality circle, Kaizen, Improvement projects etc. aimed at

enhancing overall improvement in operation activities, and reduction in cost.

Decision making authority (Decisions expected)

• Planning Mechanical activities in shift to achieve targeted output and improve quality.
• Trouble shooting of equipments to reduce delay.
• Safety of Manpower, Machine and Material.

Educational Background and Work Experience

• DME with 10-12 years relevant experience OR

• BE mechanical with 6-7 years of relevant experience
