  1. JOB DESCRIPTION Art Facilitator

Entity: Museum of Solutions (MuSo)
Location: Mumbai
Role: Full-time

ABOUT MUSO: The Museum of Solutions (MuSo) is the first-of-its-kind experiential childrens museum in India that aims to inspire, enable and empower children to create a positive change in the world. Coming up in Lower Parel, Mumbai, MuSo's exhibits and programs are inspired by the UNSGDs and designed to cultivate the knowledge, skills, and mindset that kids need to solve the challenges they see around them. The museum has a Make Lab, a makerspace with a variety of hands-on labs that help deliver MuSo’s learning goals through engaging workshops, activities, and projects.
MuSo is seeking a hands-on and creative Art Facilitator, who encompasses a blend of technical skills, educational acumen, interpersonal qualities, and a genuine passion for fostering creativity and learning in children. You will be expected to deliver hands-on Art workshops, courses and activities that align with MuSo's learning objectives and inspire children to explore, learn, and innovate.
Position Details: Junior Facilitator (Art)
Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Facilitation
    • Plan and develop Art workshops and activities suitable for children of various age groups, ensuring alignment with MuSo's educational goals and the UNSDGs.
    • Guide and support children in developing Art skills, using tools and materials safely and effectively.
    • Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that encourages creativity, experimentation, and teamwork among participants.
    • Adapt workshop content and delivery techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Collaborate with the MuSo team to integrate Art projects into larger interdisciplinary programs and exhibits.

  • Art Studio Management
    • Create and manage inventory for supplies in the Art studio, conduct weekly audit of supplies and place purchase requirements to Lead Maker on a weekly/ monthly basis
    • Conduct regular equipment audits and ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment in the studio.
    • Ensure that all activities adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.
    • Maintain a safe and organized Art space, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Manage and oversee opening/ closing of the studio and set up and clean up

  • Workshop Development
    • Assist in creating new Art workshops and projects that align with MuSo's learning outcomes and cater to diverse age groups and skill levels through weekly meetings with the Learning Design team to provide ideas, inputs and feedback for workshops

  • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of programs and their implementation and provide feedback reports to the program design team.

  • Capacity Development
    • Attend regular in-house training sessions to upskill on visitor engagement techniques
    • Stay updated on the various trends and best practices in informal learning spaces, facilitator training, attend conferences and professional development opportunities.

  • Leadership
    • provide guidance and support to junior facilitators and volunteers, fostering a culture of creativity, continuous learning, and professional growth.

Essential prerequisites :

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in any field - Art, Design, Architecture, Education experience/ training in Art
  • Experience: Proven experience of teaching Art, conducting workshops and activities. Experience in working with children is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of Art techniques as well as communicating them to audiences. Experience/ in-depth knowledge of working with different Art tools and machines and their safe handling.
  • Passion for Making: Genuine enthusiasm for hands-on making and innovation, with the ability to ignite the passion for making in children
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (English and Hindi) to interact effectively with children, families, school groups, and colleagues.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, share creative ideas, and actively participate in planning and brainstorming sessions.
  • Weekend work: Willingness to work on weekends. Weekly offs in lieu will be provided.

  • Child-Centric Approach: Understanding of child development, with the ability to tailor workshops and activities to different age groups while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Maker Mindset: Thorough understanding of the maker movement and a maker mindset and disposition to constantly work and experiment on projects, challenges and workshops.
  • Technical Expertise and Guidance: Demonstrate expertise in using Art tools and equipment, guiding participants effectively, and facilitating their understanding of technical concepts.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt workshops and activities to suit different age groups and skill levels, creating an inclusive and engaging experience for all participants.
  • Problem-Solving: Proficiently troubleshoot technical issues during workshops, demonstrating quick and effective problem-solving skills to ensure seamless activities.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to Art workshops, igniting curiosity and fostering a dynamic learning environment.
  • Visitor Engagement: Ability to engage participants through interactive and captivating facilitation techniques, enhancing the experience for children, families, and groups.
  • Safety Protocols: Manage inventory, conduct regular equipment audits, and ensure the safety of participants by following and enforcing safety protocols. Create a secure environment for exploration
  • Organization and Time Management: Efficiently manage time to conduct workshops, handle administrative tasks, and ensure the smooth operation of electronics, robotics, and rapid prototyping studios. Maintain well-organized inventory and supplies.
