Java Developer

The Java engineer works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Strong knowledge in Java technologies and debugging code is a must have. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise. The specialist works on the migration efforts of critical, industry-class, on-house, or commercial products as well as tooling for use in project work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Learn the Astadia Factory tools to perform mainframe transformations.
• Provide expert level Java knowledge and debugging.
• Provide expert level Java and Shell script coding.
• Document requirements, use cases, system design and code.
• Participate in multiple concurrent projects to completion on-time and on-budget.
• Deliver within the scope of the project within the scope of a Factory project while not compromising on quality.
• Work closely with team members and clients to achieve desired results.
• Thrive in an environment of collaboration and change.
• Mentor junior team members on Mainframe migration tasks
• Identify and bridge knowledge gap among team members from different background like Java, Mainframe etc

• Develops and works with the clients mainframe specialists.
Education and Experience
• 7+ years of experience with Java application and relational database technologies.
• 7+ Years of Development experience in Java coding
• 3+ Shell scripts/Python development experience
• A plus would be candidate with 6+ Years of Development experience using cutting edge development tools in Java.
• Certifications in any cloud technologies.
• BE in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
• Expert level in Java application technologies (Java, JDBC, REST, ANT etc....).
• Expert level experience coding in Java
• Capable of code debugging, performing builds, and rollouts.
• Exposure to or experience with third party development frameworks desired.
• The ability to learn new frameworks in a short period.
• Strong object-oriented programming debugging skills

• SQL development.
  • In-depth understanding of Java OO concepts
  • Experienced in unit testing, test-driven development, integration testing, and deployment using cloud technologies.
  • Willing to learn Mainframe Technologies (COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2 etc)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile Development Methodologies
