JOB BRIEF
POSITION: PLANT MANAGER (PRODUCTION)

REPORTING TO: DGM OPERATIONS

Position Overview: PLANT MANAGER Production will be responsible for planning, directing, organize, coordinating, and controlling all the functions of the unit. To ensure that all the departments of the units are functioning properly and effectively to achieve the organizational objectives. He will ensure that the budgeted volume of production is achieved within the budgeted cost of the year. To ensure the quality of the product and the plant. To manage all the legal and statutory compliance of the unit. He will be responsible for daily production activities. He will ensure plant production as per plan, meeting all the quality parameters. He will be responsible for managing & guiding the team of production supervisors & shop floor employees. He will ensure that he & his team are focused on manufacturing cost control, continuous improvement, optimization of production throughputs and maintaining safe working environment.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS
FUNCTION: PRODUCTION
ROLE: PLANT MANAGER
QUALIFICATION:
Masters/bachelors degree in food technology or food science. MBA in Operations Management and production Management is essential.
EXPERIENCE:

  1. Must have 10-12 Years of Exp with experience in Food Processing Industry
  2. Must have exposure to greenfield/brownfield projects.
  3. Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Demonstrated track record of managing complex production systems, and large workforce, driving operational excellence & achieving production targets.
  5. Familiarity with problem-solving techniques viz. Fish Bone Analysis, Pareto analysis
  6. Experience in controlling Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), and production costs is essential.
  7. Exposure to & experience in following one or more Food Safety Standard requirements viz. ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRCGS, or AIB is essential.
  8. Proficiency in computer software applications such as ERP systems, MS Office Suite, and manufacturing software is preferable.
  9. Excellent communication both written and verbal in Hindi & English, good interpersonal relationships with peers, juniors & seniors is essential.
  10. Leadership quality, the ability to work in a team and to maintain positivity is a must.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leading and managing the new Brownfield project and leading the P&L of the plant including but not limited to Production, Quality, Safety, Purchase, Supply Chain, Packing, Administration, and Maintenance at the plant level efficiently & effectively.
  2. Broadly look after Project execution during set up of New Factory
  3. Budgeting & Cost Control
  4. Oversee & ensure QMS & EHS compliance in the factory. Develop a safety management system and ensure adherence to it at the plant.
  5. Ensure achievement of monthly and annual production targets with zero quality issues.
  6. Control Yields, Wastage, WIP, and overall Operating expenses
  7. Ensure optimum utilization of resources incl. men, machines, and materials.
  8. Review & ensure SOP compliance on the shop floor.
  9. Ensure the delivery of products as per the delivery schedule of sales.
  10. Ensure preventive maintenance of equipment is carried out as per schedule and breakdown under complete control.
  11. Maximize capacity utilization and OEE of production lines
  12. Planning/organizing of material/manpower/machinery by creating the monthly production plan and coordinating with the corporate teams to ensure the availability of manpower, material, etc.
  13. To review deviations, Change Management Activities, yields, market complaints, and stability reports related to the production department and assist QA in technical investigation and implementation of CAPA.
  14. Ensure production and storage of all products according to the set guidelines.
  15. Ensure in-process QC and its strict implementation.
  16. Ensure carrying out internal & external plant audits.
  17. To ensure the training and development of staff and worker
  18. Responsible for ensuring all statutory compliance at the factory
  19. Responsible for the preparation of daily & monthly reports for management
  20. Responsible for de-bottleneck and process improvement at the plant, Creating continual improvement culture at the plant
  21. Project planning & control at Plant
  22. Presenting daily and monthly reports as per requirement of Management
  23. Prepare and implement production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
  24. Monitor production processes and identify productivity, quality, and safety improvement opportunities.
  25. Understand the needs and expectations of internal customers.
  26. Assisting the DGM(Operations) in organizing, planning, and implementing manufacturing strategy
  27. Collaboration with stores and PPIC function for smooth supply of raw materials & packing materials & consumables etc. to production lines.
  28. Assist in budgeting and monitoring operational expenses within the budget.
  29. Implement 5S on the shopfloor area.
  30. Ensure Total Productive Maintenance on shopfloor machinery with the help of maintenance.

REPORTS & MEETINGS
1. Prepare daily, and weekly monthly reports.
2. Prepare MIS report
3. Participate in the following meetings

  • Safety Meetings
  • Daily standing meeting
  • Weekly S&OP meeting
  • Project meetings
  • Monthly Performance Review Meeting
