About the job:
- We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Manager to oversee and manage our logistics operations, with a strong emphasis on field work, vendor management, and procurement of logistics services.
- This role requires a proactive individual who can handle the on-ground coordination, manage vendor relationships, and ensure cost-effective procurement.
- The ideal candidate should have a solid background in logistics, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation, with a hands-on approach to field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Operations Management:
- Conduct on-site visits to oversee logistics operations at various locations, ensuring efficient and smooth processes.
- Address on-ground challenges promptly, including route planning, loading/unloading processes, and personnel management.
- Ensure that logistics activities are aligned with safety and compliance standards.
Vendor Management:
- Identify, on board, and manage relationships with logistics vendors, including transporters, 3PL providers, and other service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor vendor performance against SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and KPIs, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
Logistics Procurement:
- Handle procurement of logistics services, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality standards.
- Conduct market research to evaluate potential vendors and contractors, and initiate vendor partnerships as per organizational needs.
- Develop and maintain a preferred vendor list, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring the best value for the organization.
Inventory and Fleet Management:
- Manage and monitor inventory levels in transit and at various warehousing points, optimizing logistics flows.
- Oversee fleet operations, including vehicle availability, routing, and maintenance coordination.
- Cost Optimization and Budget Management
- Develop and manage logistics budgets, focusing on cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Track logistics expenses and implement measures to control operational costs without compromising service quality.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Develop and track KPIs, including delivery times, cost-per-mile, and vendor performance.
- Prepare and present reports on logistics performance, vendor evaluations, and procurement expenses to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's /master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 8+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain management
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of vendor negotiation and logistics procurement.
- Excellent knowledge on MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for fieldwork and vendor coordination.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle on-ground challenges effectively.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel extensively within India to oversee logistics operations and vendor sites.
- Ability to work independently, with a hands-on approach to field operations
