Job Title / Role: Lead Digital Engineer (DevOps)

Location: Bangalore (Electronic City I)
Education Qualification: BE/B.Tech/BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Required Experience : 7-9 years of professional experience in Software Engineering, with at least 5-6 years in DevOps and Kubernetes.

Purpose of the role
The Lead Digital Engineer (DevOps) at TVS Motors will drive the development, deployment, and scaling of scalable infrastructure solutions to enable advanced digital applications and data services for adjacent mobility business functions. This role bridges the gap between data engineering, application development, and infrastructure management, ensuring the delivery of robust, efficient, and secure digital platforms that support TVS Motors' mobility ecosystem.
Role Description
As the Lead Digital Engineer (DevOps), the individual will lead engineering efforts for building and managing a reliable and scalable infrastructure that powers digital assets like web and mobile applications, as well as data science and machine learning services. This role will demand a hands-on approach to modern DevOps practices, Kubernetes ecosystem management, CI/CD automation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver optimal performance and reliability across digital platforms.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in cloud-native technologies, a commitment to security and compliance, and a passion for mentoring and fostering engineering excellence.
Managing self-hosted services in Kubernetes (MQTT, Kafka, Redis, Databases, Nginx).
Using Helm charts for application packaging and deployment.
Automating scaling using Kubernetes HPA and Cluster Autoscaler.
Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for seamless infrastructure and service delivery.
Monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki (for log aggregation), and ELK Stack.
Implementing and managing centralized log aggregation solutions using Loki and its associated tools.
Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure management.
Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Knowledge of source control systems (Git/GitHub) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, etc.).
Strong shell scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell) and familiarity with Python for automation.
Experience in deploying and managing stateful and stateless workloads in Kubernetes.
Skilled in optimizing and maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable production systems.
Key Responsibility Areas
Design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure solutions in Kubernetes to ensure optimal performance and reliability of services.
Monitor and manage Kubernetes clusters, focusing on service availability, scaling, and resource optimization to meet SLA requirements.
Automate scaling (up and down) of services using tools like Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) and Cluster Autoscaler.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment, testing, and delivery of infrastructure and services.
Set up, configure, manage, and monitor self-hosted services such as MQTT, Kafka, Redis, Databases, and Nginx within Kubernetes clusters.
Implement robust alerting and monitoring solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki (for log aggregation) to ensure continuous observability of infrastructure and services.
Handle the deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of both stateful and stateless services across development, staging, and production environments.
Optimize Kubernetes workloads for cost efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Design and implement log aggregation solutions using Loki and its tech stack, enabling efficient centralized log management across environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues while adhering to SLA and operational requirements.
Ensure compliance with IT security standards and successfully pass IT security assessments and penetration tests.
Maintain high availability and performance of production systems by proactively managing scalability, disaster recovery, and incident response.
Functional competency
Expertise in managing Kubernetes clusters and associated components like Helm, HPA, and Cluster Autoscaler for scalable and resilient infrastructure.
Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure strategies.
Proficiency in building robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD for seamless integration and deployment of applications and services.
Strong capability in implementing monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and log aggregation systems (Loki) to maintain system health and optimize resource utilization.
