Job Description
- Senior Cloud Operations EngineerWhat hes looking for: Looking to add someone to the team that is a server admin PLUS they have worked at the platform level
- They will be supporting application teams
- They need to know why is the database weird or why wont the application load - those are the kinds of questions they are expecting this person to know how to answer
- This team will keep pipelines working, manage core network, server components
- Tech skills - powershell for automation and cloud formation
- Experience with SQL, ISS, Tomcat, Apache and other core services Technical Must Haves: MUST be familiar with Automating within AWS using CDK instead of Cloud Formation because they are moving to CDK for most things
- A solid base of infrastructure knowledge - they must have experience working with servers and networks and general application architecture - knowing the diff between an app server vs a db server vs a web server
- Some level of Scripting knowledge - they will help with migration of everything as code Note: They are primarily powershell, some bash, and some python Preferred Candidates will have the above 3 AND
- Steve wants to see someone who has some AI familiarity - they are moving heavily in this direction as an organization, so having experience using it to solve repeatable problems and no fear of it
- They are really pushing AI here
- Solving problems faster
- Any experience working in an Agile SAFe 6 environment - they are all SAFe 6 Certified within the organization
- Someone who has worked primarily in an AWS environment
- Personality / Cultural Fit - A bias toward action with a healthy respect for impact
- To be blunt - part of the reason the prior resource was separated because they were executing without thinking/planning or they would get so paralyzed that they wouldnt act at all
- There must be a balance of making things better while thinking about what will happen when they do it
- "This team is too small to have someone on the team who is a cowboy
- " Certifications - AWS Solution Architect or any AWS Certs would be highly preferred!! ADO is a nice to have, but not a hard requirement for this role
- This person can pick it up quickly if they are eager to learn
