- 24/7 rotational shift with On-Call (Pager duty).
- Manage and monitor the performance of Cohesity backup jobs, including troubleshooting job failures, and performing restores of critical systems and data.
- Work on backup job configurations and scheduling for various platforms (VMware, SQL, NAS, etc. ).
- Troubleshoot and resolve errors related to Cohesity backup jobs, storage policies, and data recoveries.
- Act as an escalation point for Level 1 support engineers and users, assisting them with complex troubleshooting and advanced technical issues.
- Provide expert advice on resolving issues that cannot be handled at the Level 1 stage.
- Perform proactive monitoring of backup environments, identifying potential risks, and making performance and configuration recommendations to optimize backup jobs.
- Ensure proper integration and configuration of Cohesity with various applications and systems, including cloud integrations (AWS, Azure, etc. ).
- Perform software upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities on Cohesity clusters and associated environments.
- Work closely with internal IT teams, DevOps, and system administrators to ensure backup and recovery solutions meet organizational requirements.
- Document and provide clear communication on incidents, resolutions, and improvements made to systems.
- Produce and review reports on backup job statuses, performance, and system health.
- Investigate root causes of backup failures and performance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Security & Compliance:
- Ensure backup solutions adhere to internal security policies, industry standards, and compliance requirements.
- Engage with customers (internal or external) to provide timely resolution to backup-related incidents or inquiries.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for troubleshooting issues related to backup and recovery processes.
- Knowledge Transfer and Documentation:
- Maintain and update system documentation, including standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and configuration instructions.
- Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to Level 1 support staff as necessary.
- Hands-on experience with Cohesity Data Management platform, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery configurations.
- Solid understanding of data protection technologies, backup storage, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of storage protocols like NFS, SMB, and iSCSI.
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as DNS, VLANs, VPN, and troubleshooting network-related issues in backup scenarios.
- Previous experience in a Level 2 or technical support role in a backup environment.
- Experience working with enterprise-level backup systems or data protection software.
- Experience with scripting (e. g. , PowerShell, Python) for automating backup and recovery tasks is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on delivering results.
