Chief Financial Officer - Restaurant Chain - CA (20-25 yrs)

Our client is a PE invested, chain of non-vegetarian restaurants having HQ in Bangalore. It has around 90 fully owned restaurants in India and 11 overseas. The consolidated turnover of the company is 500+ cr. Looking for a CFO position to closely work with MD/CEO. The company is expected to file for an IPO in a couple of years.

Candidate must have the following:

1. Currently working in Bangalore.

2. CA by qualification and 20 years of post-qualification experiences.

3. Minimum 5 years worked in the food or restaurant related business or FMCG or retail.

4. Should be born and brought up in either of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, or Andra.

5. Age limit not more than 48 years and minimum 42 years.

6. Done articles in Big4 or handled Big 4 audits extensively.

Job description is given below.

1. To act as the sounding board to the Board of Directors/Management and provide assurance on the direction and pace of growth. Provide support to the MD/CEO and Board in the area of forward strategic financial management and budgetary analysis.

2. Evaluate business data, identify trends and assist in the development of the most effective strategies that will help protect and improve margins using analytics in order to be able to identify accurate, reliable, and relevant information and assist in decision-making;

3. Providing leadership to the existing team and helping build a professional team;

4. Review/Develop business plans, build in sensitivity analysis, develop a dynamic model with multiple scenarios for review, and help the company implement the business plan and strategy;

5. Report financial results to the Board, implement high-quality MIS including graphical management dashboards, to provide on-time, regular, and accurate data (for both Finance and Operations), and provide more visibility into business performance metrics (not just accounting data) for review of business performance by the management team. This would also involve instituting a more robust month-end closing process.

6. Conduct profitability analysis and calculate profits and return on capital employed and suggest ways and means of improving EBITDA;

7. Implementing a robust capital budgeting and investment tracking system to enable tracking of efficiency of spending in new outlet/product/services/technology investments against agreed milestones;

8. Review existing costing systems/methodology, suggest ways and means of improving this, analyze and generate service line profitability on a periodic basis based on the current frequency, and be able to capture all the parameters required in the system eventually and determine profits per unit and maintain cost effectiveness while delivering products with high-end user value;

9. Develop rules on tracking cash flows and EBIDTA by Business units;

10. Devise ways and means of tracking cash flow and create cash flow forecasts;

11. Working capital management, including supervising banking operations and monitoring cash flow, collection, and vendor payments on an ongoing basis. Identify key elements of working capital and their functioning;

12. Recommend best practices to design and implement a formal process to monitor expenses and update delegation instruments, electronic authorization matrices, specimen signature documents, validation, and authentication processes while measuring team productivity and strengthening internal controls;

13. Assist in developing a risk management framework by analyzing the organization's liabilities and investments. The objective of this exercise is to enable the company to maximize its income from investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks;

14. Establishing and developing relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders;

15. Making presentations in the Audit Committee/Board meeting if required on various matters, including Financial Results and Internal Financial Control;

16. Evaluate IT systems; suggest improvements to IT-enable/automate the processes to ensure management gets better visibility into business operations. Manage IT department in terms of SW and HW;

17. Overseeing the taxation function, both direct and indirect taxation, with respect to compliance with timely tax payments and tax deduction return filings and bringing up to management any delays or lapses for rectification or action. Take ownership and liaise with external consultants appointed by the company for specific inputs and tax consulting matters;

18. Manage legal and secretarial matters.

20. Support management in IPO activities.
